Cloud Discipline

The Cloud is the hottest topic in Information Technology today. This disruptive technology is finding its way into every industry and every environment. However, the Cloud presents unique challenges to HPC Professionals.

The Cloud Discipline

The Cloud was designed for stateless, web-based services.  Software developers, web houses and content providers benefit greatly from the flexible architecture the Cloud provides.  However, HPC environments are slower to adopt technologies like Object Storage or Microservices as integral portions of the technology stack.  Most HPC shops who run third party tooling still depend on legacy technologies such as:

  • NFSv3

  • Centralized Configuration Management repositories (CVS, ClearCase, etc..)

  • Single point of failure license management services

  • Grid management services (LSF, UGE, etc..)

The Association provides Members the opportunity to learn from fellow practitioners in the burgeoning area of High Performance Computing.  It also provides a common voice to Cloud Providers on what is important to HPC customers as the community begins to embrace Cloud Technologies.  Join today to be part of the conversation!
